My name is Thanish Karuvarasan, and I am a passionate chess player and math enthusiast from Orléans, Ottawa. I play competitive chess under both FIDE and CFC, where I currently hold a FIDE rating of 1647 and a CFC rating of 1671. Chess has been a huge part of my life, and it continues to inspire me every single day.

I love learning, teaching, and sharing the beauty of chess with others. Over the years, I’ve trained, competed, and studied the game deeply and now I want to give back by helping kids and youth in my community discover the same joy and excitement I feel every time I sit at the board.

I’m very patient, friendly, and encouraging when I teach. Whether someone is completely new to chess or already playing tournaments, I enjoy guiding them step by step, helping them understand ideas, build confidence, and improve their thinking. I believe every child can become a strong player with the right support and the right environment.

Through this club and my coaching, my goal is simple, to make chess accessible, fun, and meaningful for every young person in Orléans and Ottawa.
